The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Deoband Ms. Nidhi has sentenced the accused Amarjeet, son of Mainpal, resident of village Hashimpura, Deoband district, Saharanpur, guilty of murdering his wife by strangulation and has sentenced him to rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40,000. .


In case of non-payment of fine, the accused will have to face additional imprisonment of four months. Assistant District Government Advocate Devidayal Sharma told that the marriage of Amarjeet son of Mainpal, resident of village Hashimpura police station Deoband, took place on 19 February 2018 with Reenu daughter Rajkumar resident of village Nonjal police station Thanabhawan district Shamli. On May 30, 2018, Reenu died under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ house.


Reenu’s uncle Rajkumar son Chunnilal had filed a complaint at Deoband police station, accusing Reenu’s in-laws of strangulating her to death for not fulfilling her dowry demand. On the basis of the complaint, FIR No. 458/218 A section 498A/304B IPC was registered at Deoband police station. And the case was registered under Section 3/4 Dowry Prohibition Act. The trial of the said case took place in the Additional District and Sessions Court, Deoband.


During the testimony in the court, the witnesses had turned hostile, but on the basis of the evidence available on the file, medical report and the arguments of the prosecution, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ms. Nidhi held the accused husband Amarjeet guilty of murdering his wife Reenu by strangulation. A: Section 302 I.P.C. He has been punished with rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40 thousand and in failure to pay the fine, the accused will have to undergo additional imprisonment of four months.
