Pitru Paksha Shraddha corner work started: Aso month is very important because Pitra Tarpan is performed in the Krishna Paksha of this month, due to which the ancestors are pleased and salvation is also achieved.

It is believed that those whose ancestors are not happy, their children are also not happy. The guilt of the parents remains on these children. Therefore, it is important to keep the ancestors happy and to keep them happy, it is necessary to offer them at least during Pitru Paksha.

Who started Tarpan in Pitru Paksha?

It is mentioned in Mahabharata. There is a chapter called Anushasana Parva in Mahabharata. In this chapter, Grandfather Bhishma has mentioned the tarpan performed during Pitru Paksha. Bhishma tells Pandu’s son Yudhishthir that first of all, Atri Muni had told Maharishi Nimi that by performing Shraddha of the ancestors in the Krishna Paksha of Aso month, the ancestors are pleased.

Although after death the body merges into the five elements, the soul is immortal. That soul, under the spell of illusion, one day comes to earth to see its children. They are pleased by offering tarpan to those who died on that date in Krishna Paksha. After this Maharishi Nimi saluted his ancestors.

With this Nimi became free from Pitrudosh. When Maharishi Nimi told this to other sages, other sages also started offering tarpan. After this it became a tradition. Since then people started offering tarpan in the Krishna Paksha of Aso month, due to which Krishna Paksha is also known as Pitru Paksha.
