Jay Amitabhai Shah was born on 22 September 1988 in Gujarat, India. He is the son of India's Home Minister Amit Shah and Sonal Shah. Jay did his early schooling in Gujarat and then obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree from Nirma University, Ahmedabad. This education gave him strong skills and discipline, which later helped him in cricket administration.
According to research and reports, it is believed that like the BCCI, the salary of top officials in the ICC is also not fixed. They get paid through various allowances and reimbursements. The ICC does not give open information about these payments but the chairman is given allowances to perform his responsibilities. Therefore, there has been no major change in the allowances and reimbursements of Jai Shah as ICC Chairman. However, earlier as the secretary of BCCI, he used to get around Rs 84,000 per day for international meetings in addition to travel and accommodation allowances.
Jay Shah's career in cricket administration began in 2009 as an executive board member of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA). By 2013, he became the joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Council (GCA) and played a key role in the construction of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In 2015, he joined the finance and marketing committees of the BCCI.
