New Delhi : A big news is coming for UPI users. If your mobile number linked to your bank account is inactive for a long time, then get it activated immediately. If you do not do this, then from April 1 you will not be able to use UPI. Significantly, to prevent fraud, the new rule to UPI Payment Service is going to be implemented from April 1. Under this, banks and payment service providers i.e. PSP will have to update their database before 31 March to remove inactive or changed mobile numbers.


The National Payments Corporation of India i.e. NPCI has ordered the use of Mobile Number Revolution List i.e. MNRL available on Digital Intelligence Platform i.e. DIP to prevent fraud. After this, the use of UPI connected to inactive mobiles can stop.


It is necessary to update records once a week


NPCI has made it mandatory for banks and UPI apps like Googlepe and PhonePe to update mobile number records at least once a week. Companies offering UPI service will have to use MNRL or Digital Intelligence Platform ie DIP to identify and remove suspects.


Whose UPI can be closed?


If your mobile number has changed and is not updated with the bank, then such users will not be able to use UPI.

Those who have deactivated their number without updating to the bank. They will not be able to use UPI.

The deactivated mobile numbers which have not been used for services like calls, SMS etc. will be removed from the UPI network.

How to avoid this?


First of all, make sure that mobile numbers to bank account are active. If not, they should be activated as soon as possible.

Users should update their mobile number with a bank account to UPI.

If any mobile number to UPI ID is Dacoitive, then UPI users can take a new number to avoid the closure of services before April 1.
