British tourists are flocking to an affordable European country tipped to rival and other Spanish islands as a new hotspot.
has long been a firm favourite among British holidaygoers thanks to its consistently sunny weather, cheap booze, beautiful beaches, and close proximity to the UK.
But with protests breaking out across Majorca, some travellers may be tempted to go elsewhere.
Now, a hidden gem on the Black Sea coast is attracting attention.
Bulgaria is packed with beach resorts, pretty mountains, quaint hamlets and beautiful gardens.
On TikTok, user @shanpagnestyle, posted about Bulgaria's offerings in a clip that has raked in tens of thousands of views.
It showcases the country's stunning beach resorts and gorgeous cobbled streets, with the tourist describing the country as a "total gem".
The post was captioned: "This is Bulgaria, I have to be honest, Bulgaria completely took me by surprise."
They said: "This stunning country in the Balkans is a total gem, with a pretty coastline along the Black Sea, lots of mountains and greenery, and so much history."
Bulgaria, which has been described as an "overlooked country", is becoming increasingly accessible for travellers, according to a recent
TUI CEO Sebastien Ebel has predicted that it could rival holiday hotspots like Majorca and Menorca as early as this summer season.
He called the country a "serious alternative" for the 2025 season.
One spot, Bourgas, is known as the 'gateway to the Black Sea' and offers a long stretch of golden sand. It's just a stones' throw from Sunny Beach, located slightly further up the coast.
The spot is popular among water sports fans and is known for its family-friendly hotels.
