February 5, Patna Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, met with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday and presented a Memorandum of Understanding about the state’s reported rise in crime events.
Tejashwi implored the Governor to step in and act at the meeting.
Tejashwi voiced his worries about the worsening law-and-order situation in a statement after the meeting.
He said that at the state and federal levels, some areas were unjustly singled out.
Tejashwi especially brought up the issue of a DSP-rank officer who was said to have acted cruelly towards a member of the minority group in the Benipatti police station area of Madhubani.
A week ago, during a vehicle-checking effort, the claimed occurrence occurred.
According to Tejashwi, the state administration has not taken any action against the implicated officer.
In order to lead by example inside the Police Department, the RJD leader called for prompt action against the DSP.
He blamed the state administration’s “inaction” on the “rising crime” and the “misuse” of authority by law enforcement, citing the “lack of accountability” as a contributing factor.
Governor Khan has not yet made a public remark about Tejashwi’s memorandum.
Tejashwi said that the foundation for these positions was established during his 17-month term in administration, in response to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Tuesday distribution of appointment letters across Bihar.
“We were in power for 17 months, so there must be some benefit,” Tejashwi said in response to a question about the job placements. We authorized the 3.50 lakh jobs that are now being processed. Every post that was required was made in our cabinet. We don’t care, so let them claim all the credit now. The employment of the people of Bihar is what counts.
Before the Grand Alliance government fell in January 2024, Tejashwi had repeatedly emphasized that his leadership had made it possible for more than 5 lakh government jobs to be created in only 17 months, with an additional 3.5 lakh employment in the works.
