Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday raised questions over the deployment of Gujarat Police personnel in his security cover, asking "what was going on". Responding to this, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said he was surprised the former Delhi CM was unaware of the Election Commission norms and pointed out that the deployment was just a "routine procedure".
The development comes after the Punjab Police component from the Z-plus security cover given to Kejriwal was withdrawn following objections raised by the Delhi Police.
In a post on X, Kejriwal shared the order of Gujarat Police and wrote that the EC had removed the Punjab Police and replaced them with personnel from Gujarat Police. "What is going on?" he wrote.
गुजरात पुलिस का ये आदेश पढ़िये। दिल्ली से चुनाव आयोग ने पंजाब पुलिस हटाकर गुजरात पुलिस तैनात कर दी है। ये चल क्या रहा है? pic.twitter.com/Q6c9WwuSaL

Reacting to this, BJP leader Harsh Sanghavi took a dig at Kejriwal and asked him why he "selectively mentioned" Gujarat. "Now I understand why people call you a fraud!," he said, in a post on X.
"Kejriwal ji as a former Chief Minister, I'm surprised you're not aware of the Election Commission's norms," he added.
Sanghavi further said that the Election Commission had requested forces from various states and not just Gujarat. "In fact, the Election Commission of India has ordered SRP deployment from various states, a routine procedure. As per their request, 8 companies of SRP from Gujarat were sent to Delhi for the scheduled election on 11/1/25. Why the selective mention of Gujarat, Kejriwal ji?," he said.
मुझे अब समझ आया कि लोग आपको झांसेबाज क्यो कहते है!!

A day after Punjab Police personnel deployed in Kejriwal's security were withdrawn, the AAP supremo called the move "pure politics", with Delhi CM Atishi even allegeing that a "huge conspiracy to murder Kejriwal through the joint efforts of the BJP and Delhi Police" was being hatched.
"I regret that personal security has been politicised," Kejriwal said on Friday. Hitting back, BJP leader Anurag Thakur accused Kejriwal of misusing power as he has security cover from two police forces, despite nit holding an official position, PTI reported.
"Kejriwal once claimed that he would not take any security cover. Now, even without holding the position of Delhi chief minister, he enjoys Z-plus security from not one but two states -- Delhi and Punjab. More than 60 personnel are deployed for him. This is a clear misuse of power and resources," Thakur had said.
Voting to elect the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5, and the counting of votes will be done on February 8.
