Alexander Isak would consider leaving Newcastle United if Manchester United launched a stunning swoop, according to former Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham. Ruben Amorim is widely expected to pursue a new goalscorer in his first summer transfer window at Old Trafford, and there aren't many in world football hotter than Isak.

The Sweden international has scored 50 times in 89 appearances since Newcastle paid a club record £63million to sign him from Real Sociedad in 2022.

He is currently enjoying his most devastating run of form since landing on Tyneside, netting in seven consecutive Premier League outings to contribute to an ongoing five-match win streak.

Isak has recorded 10 goals in his last nine games in all competitions, strengthening his reputation as one of the world's most deadly frontmen.

The 25-year-old's consistent performances will be stirring interest across Europe's heavyweights.

Newcastle won't be under pressure to sell, considering he is under contract at St. James' Park until 2028.

But amid United's imminent hunt for a marquee striker signing, Sheringham believes Isak would be interested in jumping ship.

The Red Devils are languishing in 13th in the Premier League, 12 points behind Newcastle, and look certain to go without European football next season.

Sheringham has urged doubters not to underestimate the club's pull factor, though, and believes an approach would turn Isak's head.

"Manchester United is still a massive draw for any player, and playing for the club is still a highlight of anyone's career," Sheringham told BoyleSports.

"Would Alexander Isak consider joining United if a bid came in? Without a doubt. I'm not saying a deal will get done but he would be the perfect signing for United.

"He can lead the line and score goals and could be a statement signing for the new regime. He is full of confidence at the moment and could lead by example."

Despite Sheringham's confidence, it's unlikely any club will be capable of luring Isak away from Newcastle anytime soon.

Arsenal have also been regularly linked with a blockbuster move, but the Magpies wouldn't be blamed for slapping an eye-watering asking price on their prized asset.

Eddie Howe will be focused on building on his side's recent ruthless form to secure a Champions League return with a top-four finish.

Newcastle are fifth after 20 games, one point behind Chelsea and five behind second and third-place Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

A first piece of major silverware in 70 years will also firmly be in Newcastle's sights after a stunning 2-0 away win against the Gunners in this week's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.
