Google Layoff Update: Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai has announced that the company will cut 10 percent of jobs in managerial roles, including directors and vice presidents. The company is cutting its workforce amid increasing competition in AI from competitors like OpenAI.

According to the report of Business Insider, Pichai has said that Google has made changes in the last few years to make the company efficient and simplify its structure. Google will now cut jobs in positions like manager, director and vice president.

The report quoted a Google spokesperson as saying that some of the 10% jobs have been converted to individual contributor roles, while some roles have been eliminated.

Google had cut 12 thousand jobs in January 2022 (Google Layoff Update)

In the last two years, Google has taken several steps to increase efficiency. Earlier in September 2022, Pichai had said that he wants Google to become 20 percent more efficient. After this, in January 2022, Google cut 12,000 jobs.

Google has now again taken the step of layoffs as its AI competitors like OpenAI are launching new products. These products may affect Google's search business.
