The allocation of ministers' portfolios was done on Saturday amidst the ongoing tug of war between the leaders of Mahayuti's allies BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP regarding the portfolios of ministers in Maharashtra. CM Devendra Fadnavis has kept the important home department with himself. Along with this, Fadnavis has kept Energy, Law and Judiciary, General Administration Department and Information and Publicity Department with himself.
On the other hand, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has been allotted the Urban Development, Housing and Public Works Department (Public Enterprises). At the same time, another Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has been given the responsibility of finance and planning as well as state excise.
Let us tell you that Mahayuti had won in the Maharashtra Assembly. Devendra Fadnavis became the CM by winning 230 seats and along with him Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde became the Deputy Chief Ministers. On December 15, 39 ministers were sworn in. Of these, there were 33 cabinet and six state ministers.
Among the ministers, 19 MLAs from BJP, 11 from Shiv Sena Shinde faction and 9 from NCP were sworn in as ministers. The portfolios of ministers were divided on Saturday.
