The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken several steps in recent years to curb cases of online spam and fraud. Companies are taking several steps to prevent fraud in the name of commercial messages. Meanwhile, TRAI informed that a new framework has been created to detect commercial messages, which will play an important role in establishing a spam-free messaging system.
According to TRAI, the new message traceability framework will require all large organizations, such as government agencies, business organizations and banks as well as telemarketing companies, to disclose their SMS transmission routes through blockchain-based distributed ledger technology. Additionally, it will also be mandatory for companies to register for traceability.
Data privacy will not be compromised
TRAI explained that the chain declaration and binding process will facilitate end-to-end tracing of each message. TRAI says that there will be no compromise in data privacy with this system and the origin of the message can be easily tracked without any delay.
Let us also tell you that TRAI had issued the first notification for message traceability on August 20. On the demand of telecom agencies, companies were given time till October 31 to implement it. Later it was extended till 10 December. Now message traceability has been implemented across the country from December 11 and TRAI is continuously trying to make it better and stronger. Since December 11, messages coming from unregistered routes are being rejected.
