has been left raging after host stood by his past "crude and sleazy" comments towards women.

The 60-year-old is facing allegations of inappropriate conduct spanning a 17-year period, leading to his departure from MasterChef as the . Despite issuing a strong denial through his legal team, Wallace took to Instagram in what seemed to be an effort to vindicate himself.

His video, where he labelled his accusers as , has only intensified the backlash, with Wallace now embroiled in further controversy for attempting to dismiss the claims with additional sexist remarks.

In a follow-up post, Wallace apologised for causing offence and admitted he "wasn't in a good head space" when he shared the video.

Ulrika has since unleashed a tirade against Wallace, telling : "Somewhere in his misogynistic, thoughtless, ancient mind he felt it appropriate to tell the world this.

"Oh, Gregg. Your ignorance and arrogance knows no bounds. Firstly, you have no clue what 'class' of women it is that have made complaints about you."

The Swedish-born TV personality went further by stating Wallace's reference to "women of a certain age" was especially galling as Generation X have been bombarded with "sexist, misogynistic, crude and sleazy comments and physical contact" from an early age and throughout their "working lives".

Speaking to The Telegraph, Ulrika expressed her incredulity at the video featuring Wallace, declaring: "My first reaction was just, 'Keep digging, Gregg. Keep digging' because this shows the arrogance of a man who has zero introspection or self-awareness."

She insisted that the dad-of-three is sorely lacking in his ability to "read the room".

Ulrika previously blasted Wallace for making a shocking rape joke to a "distressed" MasterChef contestant. After Wallace informed a visibly upset contestant that her "dish looks like a rapist during foreplay", Ulrika called out the BBC for not taking responsibility.

She argued: "However much the BBC considered this "cheeky chappy" to be popular with the public because of his simplicity, it is just not good enough to brush off any complaints with the excuse that 'it's just how Gregg is'."

Other celebrities who have weighed in on the situation include Kirstie Allsopp, former Newsnight anchor Kirsty Wark, Sir Rod Stewart and Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby.

Wallace's legal representatives stated, "it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature."

In his Instagram tirade, he declared: "Now I've been doing MasterChef for 20 years. Amateur, Celebrity and Professional MasterChef.

"In that time I've worked with over 4,000 contestants of all different ages, all different backgrounds and all different walks of life. Now I'm reading in the paper that there have been 13 complaints in that time.

"I can see them coming from a handful of middle-class women of a certain age just from Celebrity MasterChef. This isn't right. Over 20 years of TV, can you imagine how many women on MasterChef have made sexual remarks or sexual innuendo?"
