Dec. 4, Leicester In his debut game as manager of Leicester City, Ruud van Nistelrooy made an early impact as the Foxes defeated West Ham United 3-1 at King Power Stadium.

According to the Premier League, Jamie Vardy gave Leicester the lead in less than two minutes. His goal was first disallowed for offside, but a VAR review subsequently decided it should remain.

After Danny Ings struck the woodwork, West Ham started to have the upper hand but was unable to take advantage of their chances. Later, a second-half equalizer was disallowed due to a foul by Tomas Soucek on Mads Hermansen.

Bilal El Khannouss extended Leicester’s advantage with a calm finish just after the hour, having previously set up Vardy’s first goal. In the 90th minute, substitute Patson Daka added a third goal to complete the victory.

Although another replacement, Niclas Fullkrug, gave West Ham a consolation goal in stoppage time, they are still 14th in the standings.

In the meanwhile, Leicester’s first victory in six moves them up to 15th place, four points above the relegation zone.

“When you consider the outcome and the three objectives, it’s crucial given our current situation. We knew it was a huge one for us based on the previous matchups in this round. What counts is the outcome, but I saw the game as well, and West Ham was in control. I believe that we won the game because of our perseverance and our ability to score goals. “A fantastic evening,” Nistelrooy said.

“It is a difficult day for us, the fans, and the boys—they deserve so much more,” said West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui. After the second goal in the second half, we began to lose. Sometimes you make poor decisions while you are losing the match.

“Up until that point, I thought we may tie the game, but we failed to score and took a number of chances in the closing seconds, which allowed them to score the third goal. We had several opportunities, but ultimately failed to score.”
