Israel attacked Hezbollah’s Syrian intelligence center on Monday.
“The IDF carried out an aerial operation and struck terror targets belonging to Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Syria,” it said in a post shared on X.
“The IDF has severely damaged Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in recent weeks, destroying military intelligence assets in Lebanon and impairing the group’s capacity to collect information. Targeting Hezbollah’s military intelligence assets in Syria undermines the terrorist group’s intelligence capabilities and supports IDF operations in Lebanon,” the article said.
The IDF revealed on Sunday night that Israeli soldiers had previously invaded Syria in order to apprehend a terrorist who was collaborating with Iranian operatives.
Ali Suleiman al-Aadi, a Syrian national residing in the southern town of Saida, was taken into custody by soldiers from the elite Egoz commando squad. The IDF claims that al-Aadi collected information on Israeli personnel along the border in anticipation of potential terrorist attacks. Al-Aad was under observation and is now in Israel for questioning, according to the IDF.
“The IDF will continue to work for the security of the borders and will not allow the establishment of the Iranian axis and the directing of hostile sabotage activity from southern Syria,” the military said.
Additionally, the IDF made a public video of al-Aadi explaining to Israeli interrogators how Iran recruited him.
“On the fence, we sat together. “From a strategic perspective, your area is good,” he observed after taking this look around. “We might benefit from it,” al-Aadi said.
The Iranian operative pretended to be a Syrian military intelligence official who was curious about Israeli border patrol activity.
“In reality, Iran was behind him, despite his claims to be from military intelligence. He is Iranian, as far as I can tell,” al-Aadi said.
Since the Israeli Air Force hit military installations and air defense systems on October 26, Iranian leaders have increased their rhetoric about striking in recent days.
