On Thursday, Telangana’s Cyberabad police detained celebrity choreographer Jani Master from Goa on suspicion of sexually assaulting a younger female choreographer.

The fugitive accused was apprehended by the Cyberabad police’s Special Operation Team (SOT) from a Goa lodge, and they plan to transport him to Hyderabad.

He will probably be transported to the Narsingi Police Station first, where his assistant filed a complaint that led to the registration of a case against him. Police will present him before a court in the Rangareddy district after recording his statement.

The choreographer, who has won several national awards, was reportedly missing since Wednesday, and police units were sent to various locations in an attempt to apprehend him. The police added pertinent portions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act on Wednesday in response to the complainant’s allegations that Jani Master had sexually molested her since she was a youngster.

The 21-year-old woman claimed that in 2019, the choreographer had sexually assaulted her. She reported to the police that he had repeatedly raped her. When they first arrested him, the police had recorded the complainant’s testimony and accused him of rape, criminal intimidation, and assault. She was taken for a medical evaluation as well.

Under the direction of representatives from the Bharosa Center, the detectives have obtained every piece of information from her. She allegedly admitted to authorities that she had not disclosed anything up to this point because the accused had intimidated her.

Sheik Jani Basha, also known as Jani Master, was the subject of a zero First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Raidurgam police of Cyberabad on September 15. The Narsingi Police Station thereafter received the FIR, filed a case, and began an investigation.

The complainant informed the authorities that she first made contact with the choreographer in 2017 and that, in 2019, she started working as his assistant. She said that during their filming in many places, including Chennai, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, Jani repeatedly sexually molested her. The victim has also contacted the State Women’s Commission in the meantime. According to Commission Chair Sharada Nerella, the Commission will make every effort to get justice for her. According to her, the Commission would also request that the film industry form a high-level body to handle allegations of sexual harassment as requested by the fraternity.
