On Thursday, September 19, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, on the opening day of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant of India and Litton Das of Bangladesh got into a verbal altercation.

Pant, who was seen on video shouting, “Usko feko na bhai, mujhe kyon maar rahe ho” (Throw the ball to him, don’t hit me), is well-known for his animated banter on the pitch. The exchange between the two wicketkeepers can be seen in the viral video.

The player of the day was Bangladeshi bowler Hasan Mahmud, who took three vital wickets, including former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who managed only six runs. In the tenth over, Kohli was dismissed as he edged a full ball outside off stump, which Das collected securely.

Prior to this, Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, was caught by Najmul Hossain Shanto off the bowling of Mahmud for six runs off 19 balls. Shubman Gill too collapsed early, putting India under duress and walking out for a duck.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bowl first.
