In a nearly minute-long video on Friday, former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle supported Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. The video showed the pair having a private phone conversation with the vice president at the time.

Obama contacted Harris and said, “We’re calling to say that Michelle and I couldn’t be more proud to endorse you and to do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office.” “You have my admiration. The former first lady informed Harris that “this is going to be historic.”

Harris thanked him for the endorsement and their long relationship while grinning and speaking into a mobile phone. “I appreciate you both. It has immense meaning. We’re going to enjoy ourselves with this as well,” Harris said.

According to the campaign, the video was not a recreation but the real call. Less than a week after President Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign due to declining polling, Harris’s unexpected effort against Republican competitor Donald Trump is gathering momentum among backers, funders, and legislators.

Even though it has been more than ten years since Obama’s last election, the first Black president of the United States, is still regarded as one of the most popular members of the Democratic party. Obama has given Biden his support at high-profile fundraisers, some of the most successful events of his campaign.

The endorsement indicates that he will probably start supporting Harris on the campaign trail once she is formally declared the probable candidate, which may assist the campaign generate and maintain momentum and funding.

At first, Obama declined to support her even though Biden—his former vice president—anointed her as his successor apparent. It has been stated that Obama was reluctant to endorse someone when the party was selecting its candidate. – News reports
