Sanya Malhotra has made her place in Bollywood in her own right. A Delhi girl who came to Mumbai with dreams is making it big on film at a time. Jawan to Kathal to Sam Bahadur and more Sanya has made her presence felt last year on big screens and OTT both. In an exclusive conversation with India.com the Dangal actress opened about her roles choosing scripts and getting her due in the industry.

Sanya Malhotra has a showcase of variety of characters. She has essayed roles of different shades effortlessly. When asked about her most liberating role ever Sanya says “I think Pagglait. But I love Mrs too. I can’t wait for people to see it in India and I think I have done a god job. And I don’t say it easily.”



Reviewing her work her numerous roles so far Malhotra adds “I am very critical of my work. Kuch acha nhi lagta jo bhi main karti hun. But I am proud of Mrs.” ( I don’t like any of the roles that I do but I think I am proud of my work in the film Mrs)
Sanya Malhotra on Getting Her Due in Bollywood
Sanya Malhotra made her debut with  blockbuster hit Dangal in 2016. Since then she has worked in several OTT films big banners namely Jawan Sam Bahadur Badhai Ho and more. We asked her if she thinks she has got her due in the industry. Reflecting on her characters and films Malhotra says “ Yes definitely. I am quite happy the way my career is shaping up. The kind of films I am doing the kind of roles I am getting I think I am in a very safe and secure place as an actor.”
Sanya Malhotra on Choosing the Right Script
Finding the right script is no cakewalk and one of the cardinal aspects for an actor. Speaking about her journey in Bollywood and choosing scripts Malhotra adds that “ Gut feeling. Sometimes I just know it ki yeh film karni hai ya yeh character karna hi karna hai. Jab woh script sunte hi and padhte hi pata chal jata hai. There are times when you are not fit for the character. Toh gut feeling kaafi strong hoti hai.” (Sometimes I just know in my gut if I wish to be associated with a film or play a certain character. Sometime the gut feeling is too strong and when I don’t think I fit the character.)

Sanya Malhotra had packed year in terms of cinema in 2023. With already seven months into the year Sanya says she is taking it light this year. On the work front currently she is juggling between two films. She is  shooting for Dharma movie Sunny Sankari ki Tulsi Kumari starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor and another film being directed by Anurag Kashyap. She will also be seen in the internationally acclaimed film Mrs.
