At the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics in The Netherlands, a team consisting of four members achieved India’s best-ever result, taking home two bronze medals, a silver medal, and a “honourable mention.”



Silver went to Aanya Goyal, Bronze went to Pune’s Neha Sane and Hyderabad’s Neha Singirikonda. Manasi Sane, Neha Sane’s sister, was given the honorable mention.


Every year, more than 90 nations compete in the most famous programming competition, the Informatics Olympiad. Following a year-long selection procedure, the top programmers from each nation submit a team.


An worldwide competition for young women interested in computer science is called the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics, or EGOI. It is hosted annually by a different nation and is modeled after the International Olympiad in Informatics.Switzerland hosted the first event in June 2021. The European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics 2024 was held in Veldhoven, The Netherlands, from July 21–27.


India’s outstanding result in the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics comes after the nation placed fourth in the International Maths Olympiad, its best-ever performance.


“We have four gold medals and one silver medal from our contingent. PM Narendra Modi had tweeted on X, saying, “This feat will inspire several other youngsters and help make mathematics even more popular.”
