Jalandhar West Byelection: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Saturday that he will rent a house in Jalandhar to campaign for the city's assembly byelection, adding that the Aam Aadmi Party's campaign will focus on his government's achievements.

The Punjab Chief Minister, speaking at a function commemorating Sant Kabir Das' birth anniversary in Hoshiarpur, said that the Aam Aadmi Party decided to run in the Jalandhar West byelection under his leadership.

His statement comes a day after the party decided to handle the AAP campaign under the leadership of its general secretary, organisation, and Rajya Sabha member, Sandeep Pathak.  Mann planned to campaign only on the last leg. Twenty-three senior politicians, including two MPs, four ministers, and MLAs, are camping in Jalandhar to campaign for the July 10 bypoll. The votes will be counted on July 13.

Following Sheetal Angural's resignation as an AAP MLA has necessitated a byelection for the Jalandhar West seat.
