If you’re planning to travel to the US, it might help you to understand which cities are worth driving to, or even driving in, the next time you’re there. A recent study by Forbes Advisor, which evaluated 47 metro areas and took a number of factors into account, including driving experience, safety, cost of car ownership and access to car maintenance to release a list of cities that are bad for drivers.

Most people, who assume that the worst city for driving would be Los Angeles would be surprised to know that Oakland clinches the indesirable top rank on this list. While Oakland may not have the bumper-to-bumper traffic of Los Angeles, it seems a different set of challenges plagues its roadways, such as high number of fatal crashes, high gas prices and long average commute times.

Miami’s high insurance prices, long commutes and slow rush hour speeds gave it the second position on the list so be prepared to be annoyed if you’re travelling on your own here! San Francisco was ranked third on the list, put on the position by exceedingly slow commutes and the highest gas prices among all cities listed. And Los Angeles wound up on the 11th place on the list.

Here are the 10 worst destinations for you to drive in the US:

Oakland, California

Miami, Florida

san Francisco, California

Houston, Texas

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

New York City, New York

Chicago, Illinois

Atlanta, Georgia

Dallas, Texas
