Dhaka: Bangladesh’s Nahida Akhtar and Sarmin Sultana have been fined 10 per cent of their match fees for separate Level 1 breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Rajshahi on Wednesday. Both players also received one demerit point each, which was their first such mistake in the last 24 months.
Nahida was fined for giving an angry farewell after dismissing Sri Lankan captain Chamri Athapattu in the 17th over, while Sarmin was fined for showing dissent, delaying his departure and gesturing to put the bat in after being given LBW in the 16th over of Bangladesh’s chase.
These allegations were made by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Dolly Rani Sarkar and fourth umpire Shatira Zakir JC. Both Nahida and Sarmin admitted their mistake and accepted the punishment imposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, and avoided a formal hearing.
