On April 25, Megan Thee Stallion, a three-time Grammy winner, took to her Instagram Story to express her frustrations regarding an unnamed NBA player, whose identity was clear to her followers. She wrote, "Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house...got 'cold feet'. Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don't know if you can be 'monogamous?'"
She concluded her message with, "Bitch I need a REAL break after this one. Bye yall." Shortly thereafter, a representative for Megan confirmed to a media outlet that the post was aimed at Klay Thompson of the Dallas Mavericks, marking the end of their relationship.
Megan's representative stated, "I've made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity, and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
Megan and Thompson publicly announced their relationship last July when he attended the Pete & Thomas Foundation benefit gala with her. At the event, Thompson expressed his admiration for Megan, and she reciprocated the sentiment on the red carpet.
In the following months, the couple showcased their affection on social media, sharing moments from date nights and mini-golf outings, which sparked speculation about them moving in together. As recently as February, Megan expressed her willingness to marry Thompson, stating she was "down to marry" the athlete.
Despite their public displays of affection, it seems there were underlying issues in their relationship. Megan's Instagram post indicated that she had been a strong support for Thompson during a challenging basketball season, only to face doubts about his commitment to monogamy.
The timing of their split is significant, as Thompson is concluding his third and final contract season with the Mavericks and has voiced uncertainty regarding his future with the team. This situation suggests that both his personal and professional lives are currently in a state of flux.
Moving forward, Megan has a lot on her plate. She recently launched a swimwear collection and made history as the first woman to portray Zidler in a limited Broadway run of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
