There have been plenty of reasons to celebrate for Lincoln City in recent weeks. For the first time in 65 years, the Imps were promoted to England's second tier, having gone up from League One as champions.

They defied the odds to achieve the feat, with second-placed Cardiff City having been tipped as the pre-season favourite for top spot. Michael Skubala's side can look forward to playing the likes of Wolves, Burnley, and potentially even Tottenham Hotspur next season.

But there has been even more reason for celebration, given the club's ownership has been handed the green light for a major 10,000-seater stadium redevelopment. The multi-million-pound project will see the LNER Stadium transformed, while marking yet another major milestone for the Lincolnshire outfit.

Overall, the project focuses on three key areas, including an expanded fanzone and event space. There will also be upgraded stadium screens, which are all aimed at improving the ground and its matchday experience.

However, the headline development will come behind the Rilmac Stand, where a new covered fan and hospitality area is being built. A large bar will be implemented, which can also double as a multi-use venue to help increase the club's revenues on non-matchdays.

On the pitch, Lincoln fans will already be looking forward to their Championship encounters next season, with Skubala reflecting on the achievement. He said after earning promotion: "This is a big moment for the club. Big for the players, the staff - the hard work to get to this point. When you score late like that... what an amazing, amazing day.

"We've talked about history all season. Understanding the club and doing something special. We knew could be the first team promoted this season - that's history. Make it so. To deliver this for such an amazing club and fanbase makes me very proud - and I know the players feel the same.

"The secret to success is nothing but hard work. The staff give everything, the players give everything. If I was a fan watching this team, I'd be proud - not just because of the wins, but because of how they work and fight for everything."
