PTC Web Desk: Senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Friday stirred fresh political debate by claiming that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann may also consider leaving the AAP amid what he described as a growing internal shift within the party.
Addressing the media, Majithia said the political churn in AAP had begun earlier than he expected. “This is just the beginning. I had anticipated such developments by August, but it has happened in April,” he remarked.
He alleged that several AAP Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, Swati Maliwal, Vikramjit Singh Sawhney, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh and Rajinder Gupta, have aligned with the BJP.
Majithia further claimed that the political shift could soon spread to AAP MLAs in Punjab, with possible defections expected from key regions such as Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
He alleged that the situation has put the Mann-led government under pressure and went on to claim that the Chief Minister himself might consider switching sides to safeguard alleged overseas assets and avoid scrutiny from central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Calling for constitutional action, Majithia demanded that the Chief Minister prove his majority on the floor of the Punjab Legislative Assembly.
