New Delhi: The heat is continuously increasing across the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heat wave alert for many states including the capital Delhi. There is a possibility of hot winds in Delhi from today, due to which yellow alert has been declared. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature may increase further in the coming days.
According to IMD, till April 24, the maximum temperature of Delhi can remain between 41 to 44 degrees Celsius. Strong sunlight and hot winds during day time in the capital will increase the problems of the people.
There is little hope of getting relief not only during the day but also at night. The minimum temperature of Delhi can range from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, due to which even the nights will feel hot.
The Meteorological Department said that the heat wave that started from Haryana has now reached Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Madhya Pradesh. In the next three days, its impact may increase and spread to many parts of Central India. Apart from this, the temperature has been recorded between 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in many areas of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
According to IMD, night temperatures remain above normal in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Hot nights can further increase people’s problems. When the temperature remains high at night, the body does not get relief from the heat of the day.
This increases the risk of heatstroke, dehydration and other heat- diseases. Elderly people, small children, laborers working outside and already sick people should be more careful. Avoid exposure to sunlight in the afternoon and keep drinking enough water.
The Meteorological Department’s forecast from April to June had already said that this time there will be more heat wave than normal in many areas. Now looking at the current situation, it is believed that the heat may increase further in May. May is counted among the hottest months in India, so temperatures may set new records in the coming weeks.
