Ingredients for making Poha



  • Poha (thick) – 2 cups

  • Onion (finely chopped) – 1

  • Potato (cut into small pieces) – 1

  • Green chilli – 1-2

  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

  • Turmeric – 1/2 tsp

  • Peanuts – 2 tbsp

  • Curry leaves – 8-10

  • Lemon – 1

  • Salt – as per taste

  • Oil – 2 tbsp

  • Coriander – for decoration


How to make Poha


Poha is a tasty and healthy breakfast. To prepare this, first put the poha in a sieve and wash it gently. Keep in mind that do not keep it in water for too long, otherwise it will melt and break. After washing, leave it for 5-7 minutes so that it remains soft and separate.


Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start crackling, add curry leaves, peanuts and green chillies and fry lightly. Now add chopped potatoes to it and cook till it turns golden so that the taste increases.


Now add finely chopped onion and fry until it turns light pink. After this add turmeric and salt and mix well. This increases both the color and taste of Poha.


Now put the prepared poha in the pan and mix gently so that all the spices get mixed well. Take care that the poha does not break, so mix it very slowly.


Finally, before turning off the gas, add lemon juice and sprinkle green coriander on top. Due to this, the taste of Poha becomes even more fresh and nutritious. Serve hot poha with tea or curd.
