Seoul. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung left on an official visit to India on Sunday. This visit is taking place at a time when ongoing tensions in West Asia have increased pressure on the global energy market and supply chain. President Lee will reach New Delhi today and will hold an important meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.

This will be the third face-to-face meeting of the two leaders in recent times. Earlier they have met at global forums like G7 and G20. This time’s meeting is being considered very important from a strategic point of view.

There is likely to be a special discussion in the meeting on enhancing partnership in important areas like shipbuilding, maritime industry, artificial intelligence and defense cooperation. Apart from this, both the countries can also consider a joint strategy to deal with the challenges arising in the energy supply chain due to the situation in West Asia.

During his visit to India, Lee Jae Myung is also expected to participate in a business forum where new investment and business opportunities for Korean companies will be discussed. India is being seen as a major market and manufacturing hub for South Korea in the electronics and automobile sectors.

After the India visit, President Lee will visit Hanoi, Vietnam, where he will meet President To Lam and other top leaders. There will be talks on topics like energy supply, important minerals and economic cooperation. This will be his first official visit to Vietnam and is also considered to be the first major visit of a foreign leader after the new government.

The entire visit is aimed at strengthening ties with rapidly emerging economies and further expanding South Korea’s global diplomatic reach.
