Famous actor of South Indian film industry, Prakash Raj is once again embroiled in controversies. This time his attention has been attracted due to a controversial statement given on *Ramayana*. He made this statement during a literary festival organized in Kerala in January 2026. This statement of his has put him in serious problems. Recently, Prakash Raj gave a unique interpretation of *Ramayana* after a play presented by a children’s theater group. In this play, Lord Rama and Lakshmana were depicted as North Indians, who were seen stealing fruits from Ravana’s garden.

During the event, Prakash Raj narrated a fictional story, written by a child. He told that Rama, Lakshmana and Sita were traveling towards the south and when he became hungry, Rama pointed towards a field. Lakshman asked, ‘Can we eat this fruit?’ Ram said that considering his hunger he was allowed to eat the fruit. As soon as he started eating the fruit, Ravana and Shurpanakha arrived there. Shurpanakha objected, but Ravana said, ‘They are hungry, let them eat the fruit.’ Subsequently, Ram offered to give the money after eating the fruit, but Shurpanakha told him that she would have to pay $2,000, which included GST.

On April 16, 2026, a complaint was filed against Prakash Raj for mocking Lord Ram and the sacred epic. He is accused of deliberately hurting the sentiments of Hindus. This case has been registered in the South District Cyber ​​Cell of Delhi Police. Lawyer Amita Sachdeva informed on social media platform ‘X’ that a case has been registered against the actor under sections 299, 302, 196, 352 and 353 of the Indian Justice Code, along with the IT Act.
