Adani Green ESG Rating: There will be no shortage of electricity in the financial capital of the country now. Adani Electricity Mumbai Infrastructure Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Energy Solutions Limited, has achieved a major achievement in strengthening the power supply in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The company has commissioned a 1,000 MW high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link between Kudus and Aarey.

50 km long underground corridor

Under this project, a 30 km long overhead line and 50 km long underground corridor has been built. It has been specially designed keeping in mind the challenges of a densely populated city like Mumbai. One of its major features is the world’s first compact HVDC substation installed in it. The project was conceived after the blackout in Mumbai in October 2020.

the grid will be stronger

Through this transmission line, more electricity can now be supplied to Mumbai and MMR areas by taking it from outside. It can also be used for green energy. Although Mumbai is already connected to the National Grid, connectivity will be even better through the HVDC link. This will be of great benefit especially in the case of green energy.

Mumbai MMR is one of the most prominent areas in terms of electricity consumption. This project of Adani Electricity will significantly improve the electricity supply facility, the dependence on electricity generated in the city will reduce and additional electricity of 1,000 MW can be brought from outside. This will strengthen the grid and reduce the possibility of large-scale power cuts.

This is a major achievement in view of the ever increasing demand for electricity in cities. With the completion of this project, not only will the electricity generated in other cities be supplied, but it will also prove helpful in reducing carbon emissions through the use of green energy.

Mumbai’s Modern Power Corridor

Commenting on the achievement, Kandarp Patel, CEO, Adani Energy Solutions Limited, said that with the commissioning of the Aarey-Kudus transmission line, Mumbai now has a modern power corridor capable of supplying renewable energy on a large scale with high reliability. He said that this is the fastest completed project till date running on advanced VSC based HVDC technology.
