(Health Corner) :- In Ayurveda, food is considered an important component of health. A correct Ayurvedic diet depends on the physical nature of the person, providing him with the necessary nutrition. This diet also protects from various diseases. Women should take special care of eating according to their age so that they can maintain energy and remain safe from diseases. Let us know from an Ayurveda expert what precautions should be taken while eating.
Ayurvedic Diet: According to Ayurveda, the cause of any disease is the imbalance of elements in the body. When any one of Vayu, Pitta and Kapha is out of balance, it is called a dosha. For example, if there is an excess of Vata, dizziness can occur, an excess of Pitta can cause bloating, and an imbalance of Kapha can lead to excess mucus. There are three categories of diet in Ayurveda.
Satvik diet: It is the purest of all types of diets. It nourishes the body, provides peace to the mind and increases immunity. This includes whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables, cow’s milk, ghee, legumes, dry fruits, sprouts, honey and herbal teas.
Rajasic Diet: It is protein rich and spicy. People doing more physical labor can use it.
Tamasic diet: This includes refined foods, which are deep fried and spicy. These contain high amounts of salt and increase laziness.
Balance of nutrients: It is necessary to have six tastes in food: sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter and astringent. People of Vata nature should eat sweet, sour and salty food, people of Kapha nature should eat bitter, pungent and astringent food, and people of Pitta nature should eat sweet, pungent and astringent food. This maintains the balance of nutrients in the body.
Ayurvedic Diet Plan: Organic food is rich in energy. Prepare vegetables by lightly frying them in less oil and spices. Consume seasonal fruits, milk, buttermilk, curd, cheese, pulses, soybean and sprouted grains. Use honey and jaggery instead of sugar, and eat bran flour and porridge instead of refined flour. The food should neither be overcooked nor undercooked.
