New Delhi: David Miller turned out to be the hero for Delhi Capitals (DC) as he smashed two sixes off two balls and a boundary off the next one to help his team clinch a last-over thriller against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday. Miller’s heroics powered DC to a six-wicket win at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The South African batter curbed the last over demons to script a fairytale redemption after his colossal failure in DC’s run chase against the Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium earlier this season. Miller failed to get 2 runs off the last two balls against GT to help his team get over the line as DC lost the game by 1 run, chasing 211 runs at home.
On Saturday, it looked like Miller and DC were in for another disappointment after Romario Shepherd gave away only two singles off the first two balls, defending 15 off the last over for RCB against the visitors at the Chinnaswamy. However, what unfolded after the first couple of deliveries was pure carnage as Miller smashed two sixes off the next two balls to put DC on the cusp of a famous win.
He smashed a four off the penultimate ball, silencing the crowd at the Chinnaswamy to power DC to a six-wicket victory. After managing only 6 runs off his first seven balls, Miller finished with 22 off just 10 balls to take DC home in a thriller. The South African opened up on his redemption act after his team’s victory and said he was chuffed it came off in the last over.
“It feels really good to get one from the other night, obviously, I was just a bit disappointed a couple of games ago, but to get myself back in that position was good to get over the line,” Miller said in the post-match presentation.

When asked if the GT game was still in the back of his mind, Miller agreed but revealed he had worked on some of his shots in the break between the two matches, which helped him complete the chase against RCB on Saturday. The DC batter also credited the RCB bowlers for nailing Yorkers in the death to keep him at bay during the start of his innings.
“And it has been a couple of games, obviously had a week off, so I’ve worked on a few things, obviously, just, just trying to stay in the moment as well and do what I can. My first six balls, I thought, they were bowling unbelievably well. There were six yorkers to me, and I couldn’t get going, but, yeah, really chuffed that it came off in the last six balls,” he added.
While Miller did the job under pressure in the last over, it was Tristan Stubbs who kept DC in the game till the end with his unbeaten 60 off 47 balls. However, after two singles on the first two balls of the final over, with 15 required, Stubbs thought the chase might have slipped away from the visitors’ hands. Stubbs thanked Miller for his finishing act after the left-hander won it for DC.
“No, it’s always good finishing off games with Stubbo. We batted a lot together and, he just said thanks so much, you saved me there. But I thought he batted unbelievably well. Obviously anchored the innings all the way through. He was calm. He’s got a great technique, and then obviously, very powerful. So for him being there was massive for us,” said Miller on his chat with Stubbs after the chase.
Delhi Capitals beat RCB to bag their third win in the IPL 2026 and move to fourth place with six points from five matches so far this season. RCB remain in the second spot with six points from five matches.
