New Delhi: Kuldeep Yadav and skipper Axar Patel starred with two wickets each as Delhi Capitals (DC) restricted Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to 175/8 in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, April 18. Delhi Capitals thus became the first team to restrict Royal Challengers Bengaluru under 200 in IPL 2026.

Opting to bowl first, captain Axar proved to be the pick of the bowlers for the side with figures of 2 for 18 in just 3 overs while Kuldeep registered figures of 2 for 32 in 4 overs. South African pacer Lungi Ngidi also claimed two wickets, with one coming in the 19th over while Mukesh Kumar also contributed with a single scalp.

Phil Salt shine for RCB

Philip Salt was the only member of the RCB unit who shined with the bat scoring a half-century. Salt smashed 63 runs off 38 balls studded with three massive sixes and four boundaries. Tim David also showed some courage scoring 26 runs but could not take his score beyond that. David, in his short stay, broke Travis Head’s record to become the second-fastest batter to complete 1,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL), in terms of balls taken.

Virat Kohli looked promising with three boundaries putting up 19 runs quickly but Ngidi got the better of him to send the star batter back to the pavilion. Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Rajat Patidar scored 18 and 8 runs respectively while Jitesh Sharma and Krunal Pandya contributed with 14 and 12 runs respectively.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru were seen donning the iconic green jerseys in the IPL clash against Delhi Capitals. The Bengaluru-based franchise don green jerseys as part of their ‘Green Initiative’ every year since 2011.

The jersey is made from recycled materials, and it continues to serve as a symbol of RCB’s commitment to sustainability. The franchise also said that it is the only carbon-neutral T20 franchise in the world.
