New Delhi: The West Bengal Assembly election is just round the corner, and the political parties are busy in last minute preparations. The polling in the state will take place in two phase to elect 294 members of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly on April 23 and April 29. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on May 4.

Before going to vote in their respective assemblies on the scheduled day, voters must know about several aspects of an election. It is especially important for those who have turned 18 and have gained the eligibility to vote for the first time. Such an occasion is always special for a first-time voter, and among other details, they must know how to find their polling booth on NVSP. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has enabled voters to find their polling booth on the NVSP. In this article, we will take a look at how can a voter search for this.

What is NVSP?

The National Voters’ Service Portal (NVSP) is an online platform introduced that the ECI has launched. Thanks to this portal, voters can now access several services online. The offers wide range of online services to citizens of our country and also to NRIs to participate in the election process. Some of these services include registration of voter ID, searching name in electoral roll, checking the status of voter ID, downloading voter ID, correction or modification in voter ID, locating polling station, and printing voter information slip.

How to register on NVSP portal?

The NVSP can be accessed through the ECI’s website at https://voters.eci.gov.in/. To use the portal, a voter has to create an account with the help of mobile number and provide some basic information like name, date of birth, and address.

A voter have to click on the ‘sign-up’ in the portal on the top right corner of the homepage. After entering details, the voter has to enter captcha code and click ‘continue’. The voter has to enter name, password and confirm it and then click the ‘request OTP’ button. The OTP sent to the mobile number and email ID has to be entered then click ‘verify’.

How can first-time voters find polling booth?

A first-time voters has to visit the NVSP, and login using mobile number, password, and captcha and by entering the OTP sent to the mobile number. Then the voter has to enter EPIC number on the voter ID card and the complete information including polling booth will be displayed. The voter can also find the polling both using information like name, age (or date of birth), district, constituency, and relative’s name.
