Gandhinagar, 16 April. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel said that Gujarat is making a strong contribution to the country’s economy and its share in India’s total GDP is 8.3 percent. CM Bhupendrabhai, in his address during the inaugural ceremony of the GATE 2026 Trade Expo here on Thursday, said Gujarat contributes 18 per cent to the country’s industrial production and 31 per cent to exports, which reflects the state’s strong industrial and business potential.



The three-day ‘Gujarat Advanced Technology and Economy Expo (GATE) 2026’ is being organized by Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), in which companies from more than 16 sectors are participating. These include major sectors like automobile, renewable energy, IT, pharma and textile. Based on the theme ‘Gujarat Vision – Global Ambition’, this expo will provide a platform to MSMEs and youth to reach the global market from the local level.



Chief Minister Patel said that the state’s development model is based on a balance of trade, tradition, industry and entrepreneurship, which has been taken forward under the guidance of Narendra Modi. He also informed that Gujarat is moving rapidly in emerging sectors like green growth, renewable energy, electric vehicles and semiconductors, which is in line with the goal of ‘Make in India, Made for the World’.


GCCI President Sandeep Engineer said around 610 exhibitors are participating in the expo and more than 50,000 visitors are expected. Overall, this event is being considered an important step towards establishing Gujarat as a global business center and giving new impetus to industrial development.
