Next is eyeing a takeover bid for an iconic, luxury handbag brand, reports claim. The retail giant has already snapped up Russell & Bromley and is reportedly mulling a bid for the women's designer bags and accessories firm, Radley.

Sky News reported the possible acquisition on Tuesday (April 14), claiming the retailer is in talks with a team advising Radley's current owners. Next is reportedly seeking a deal to acquire Radley's brand and intellectual property assets.

But Next is not the only group eyeing the brand, with Gordon Brothers said to be among Radley's suitors.

Next has picked up a number of famous brands in recent months, including not just Russell & Bromley, but Cath Kidston, Seraphine and Joules.

According to AJ Bell, Radley posted a £2.2million loss for the financial year to April 2025 and the United States accounts for about 15% of the group's revenues.

These fell from £72m for the financial year to April 2024 to £65.8m, the investment platform said.

Shares in Next finished the day up 0.9% at 13,470.00 pence on Tuesday. They fell back to 13,390.00 pence on Wednesday.

Radley was established in 1998 by entrepreneur Lowell Harder. It is known for its Scottie dog logo and colourful products.

The business grew from a stall at Camden Market in London into an iconic brand known for its leather expertise and quality.

It has shops in Covent Garden in London and in Buchanan Galleries, Glasgow. There are also 18 outlets in other parts of the UK.

Next has been approached for comment.
