Ajinkya Rahane has yet another chapter to his IPL captaincy book to look back upon with disappointment. Kolkata Knight Riders slumped to their 32-run defeat against the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2026 season, a loss that not only damages KKR's run in the league but also adds Rahane's name to an unwanted list of captaincy records.

KKR have registered zero wins in the first five games of the IPL 2026 season and for the first time in the history of the franchise they are winless from the first five encounters of an IPL edition.

Rahane's Captaincy Numbers Under Scanner

His record as an IPL captain has been put under the scanner with this loss. Rahane now features one of the lowest win percentages among the captains who have featured in at least 30 matches of the tournament.

Pressure Mounting After Disastrous Start

The IPL 2026 campaign for KKR has not been what they would have expected to be. Though the team has got off to good starts in few matches, they have failed to win matches and inconsistency in the batting order and bowling department have caused a lot of problems for the team.

In the match against CSK, Rahane played a good knock of 28 but the other players could not capitalize on the good start and KKR failed to chase 193, eventually losing the match by 32 runs.

With the team on the back of six successive defeats in the Indian Premier League, and win-less in five matches this season, Rahane needs to get the team back on winning ways.
