Manoj Prabhakar was born on 15 April 1963 in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Prabhakar, a right-arm medium fast bowler and batsman, made his international debut in 1984. A unique world record is also registered in the name of Manoj Prabhakar. He is the player who has opened both batting and bowling most times in international cricket. He achieved this feat 45 times in ODIs and 20 times in Tests. His swing bowling, especially the outswinger and slower ball, was considered his greatest strength.


Domestic cricket and achievements


Prabhakar’s performance in domestic cricket was also excellent. While playing for Delhi, he scored 385 wickets and 7469 runs in 154 first-class matches. In List A cricket, he took 269 wickets in 214 matches and also scored 4118 runs. Apart from this, he was also a part of the Indian team that won the 1985 World Championship of Cricket and Asia Cup.



After saying goodbye to cricket in 1996, Prabhakar became active in the field of coaching. He visited Delhi and Rajasthan Along with the team, he also worked with the teams of Afghanistan and Nepal. However, his career was also marred with controversy, including allegations of match-fixing and disagreements during his coaching tenure.
