Chennai Super Kings emerge victorious over Kolkata Knight Riders by a comfortable 32-run margin in the 22nd Indian Premier League 2026 fixture played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. A formidable display with the bat and the ball, as the home team takes control over their opponents.
CSK Post Strong Total with Collective Batting Effort
Having asked to bat first , Chennai Super Kings' batters gave their bowlers an decent target on a difficult wicket as they slammed a strong 192 for 5 in their 20 overs. Sanju Samson top-scored with a breezy 48 off just 32 deliveries, as he laid the foundation at the top, while Ayush Mhatre smashed the bowlers for a speedy 38 in only 17 deliveries as he gave the much-needed momentum at the top.
The young Proteas star Dewald Brevis added crucial runs in the middle overs with his 41 off 29 balls. Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube chipped in with crucial 23 and 14* and their innings, along with 7* from Overton, helped the home side post 192-5 on the board. Although the total seemed below par, it ended up being a mammoth one in the second half of the innings.
Amongst the bowlers for KKR, Tyagi had the best of the figures with the ball as he picked up 2 wickets and was assisted by Sunil Narine and Anukul Roy picking up one wicket each.

KKR's Chase Fizzles Despite Late Surge
A target of 193 needed the KKR to start strong, and their chase faltered early with Finn Allen gone. Sunil Narine and skipper Ajinkya Rahane did their bit to stage a recovery scoring 24 and 28 respectively but they could not extend their innings.
Young lad Angkrish Raghuvanshi played an impressive cameo of 27 runs but the middle order folded under pressure, and once again it was the handy contributions of young Noor Ahmad who took key wickets in quick succession, including Rahane and Cameron Green to derail KKR's charge.
Rovman Powell (31*) and Ramandeep Singh (35*) did produce a fighting rear guard but it was never enough as KKR finished on 160 for 7 at the end of 20 overs.
The CSK bowlers were clinical throughout with Noor Ahmad (POTM) picking up 3 wickets, backed up by 2 quick wickets from Anshul Kamboj. All in all, it was a clinical performance from CSK where both the batting and the bowling clicked at the opportune time to give them an important home victory.
