He once fought a fierce battle near the banks of the Godavari River against two other rulers - Gangeyadev Kalachuri (of Chedi) and Jai Singh Telang (of the Chalukya dynasty). In this intense conflict, Raja Bhoj stood alone against both kings and ultimately defeated them, showcasing his superior strength and strategy.



After this remarkable victory, people began referring to the event in a simplified one-line expression:
“Kahan Raja Bhoj aur kahan Gangey-Telang,” highlighting the clear difference in power and dominance between Raja Bhoj and his rivals. Over time, as the story passed through generations and oral traditions, the phrase gradually changed in pronunciation and form. Eventually, it evolved into the more familiar version we use today:
