Diabetes patients often resort to various home remedies to control their sugar level. One of these popular remedies is lady’s finger water, which helps in balancing the sugar level in the body. We discussed this topic with Dr. Anjali Phatak, Director and Senior Clinical Nutritionist, NutriPlus.
Ladyfinger contains many elements which are helpful in controlling sugar levels. It contains soluble fiber, folate and antioxidants. The sticky substance produced by okra, called mucilage, slows down the digestion process, keeping the stomach full for a longer period of time.
To make ladyfinger water, take 2 to 3 ladyfingers, chop them well and soak them overnight. A gel like substance will come out overnight. It should be drunk in the morning on an empty stomach. If you want, you can throw away the ladyfinger or add it to the vegetable.
You can drink it daily, it is beneficial for health. While taking okra water, keep the quantity in mind. First take half a glass and then after a few days take 1 glass.
