The atmosphere in Mumbai was sad and gloomy as Mumbaikars bid an emotional final goodbye to their beloved veteran singer Asha Bhosle. The legendary singer passed away on Sunday, April 12, at Breach Candy Hospital after suffering multiple organ failure, a day after she was hospitalised due to a chest infection and exhaustion. Her mortal remains were brought to her residence at Casa Grande in Lower Parel, where family members, close friends, and several prominent figures from the film and political fraternity gathered to pay their final respects on Monday.
Asha's last rites were performed at Shivaji Park Crematorium by her son, Anand Bhosle,in the presence of several celebrities, musicians, and politicians who gathered to bid her an emotional farewell.
The Maharashtra government accorded the veteran singer a state funeral, a tribute reserved for those who have made monumental contributions to the nation. The ceremony mirrored the farewell given to her elder sister, the late Lata Mangeshkar, at the same historic ground.

CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, along with actors Vicky Kaushal, Aamir Khan, singer Anu Malik, ministers Chhagan Bhujbal, Ashish Shelar, Bharat Gogawale, Sanjay Shirsat, MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Anil Desai, among others, paid their last respects at the Shivaji Park Crematorium.

Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj also stood by Zanai Bhosle. In the video, Siraj was seen comforting and hugging Zanai, who was seen crying next to her grandmother's mortal remains.
Vicky Kaushal and Aamir Khan attended the last rites at Shivaji Park, where Vicky walked up to Zanai and hugged Zanai Bhosle.
Thousands of emotional fans lined the streets of Mumbai as the funeral procession made its way to Dadar. At around 5 p.m., amid a somber atmosphere, she was cremated with a 21-gun salute and a guard of honour by the Maharashtra Police.

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan did not attend the funeral but penned heartfelt tributes, describing her as an irreplaceable pillar of Indian cinema.
Asha Bhosle's sisters Usha and Meena Mangeshkar also attended the funeral.

Asha Bhosle was married twice in her lifetime
Her first marriage was to Ganpatrao Bhosle, with whom she had three children, Hemant Bhosle, Varsha Bhosle, and Anand Bhosle.
Later, she married renowned music composer Rahul Dev Burman, leading to one of the most iconic musical partnerships in Bollywood history. Their collaborations include classics like "Dum Maro Dum," "Piya Tu Ab To Aaja," "Chura Liya Hai Tumne," and "Mera Kuchh Samaan," among others.
Asha Bhosle's children
Asha Bhosle had three children from her first marriage. Her son Hemant Bhosle pursued a career in music and composed for films like Dharam Shatru (1988), Sansani: The Sensation (1981), and Raja Jogi (1983). He passed away in 2015.
Her second son, Anand Bhosle, managed her professional work, while her daughter Varsha Bhosle, a journalist, sadly passed away in 2012.
The family also includes grandchildren, many of whom maintain a low public profile but remain closely connected to her legacy.

Recognised by the Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in music history, with over 12,000 songs, she mastered everything, from classical ghazals and soulful melodies like 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai' to high-energy pop hits like 'Dum Maro Dum.'
She was also a recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, and two National Film Awards.
Not only did Asha Bhosle carve a name for herself in Bollywood, Marathi and Telugu cinema, but she also has fans internationally, and many celebs look up to her craft.
