Mathura Boat Accident: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann visited Jagraon on Saturday and expressed condolences with the families who lost their loved ones in the tragic incident of boat capsizing near Mathura and assured all possible assistance in this hour of crisis. Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life and property in this incident, the Chief Minister said that the boat of the victims capsized in the Yamuna river during their journey to Vrindavan, in which 11 bodies have been recovered so far and the search for four missing persons is going on.



The Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government is in constant touch with the Uttar Pradesh Government and teams of divers have already been sent from Punjab to assist in the rescue operations. Emphasizing accountability and prevention, the Chief Minister said that the safety of devotees at religious places should be ensured at all costs. He further said that he has raised this issue with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to strengthen security arrangements and prevent such accidents in future.


‘Deeply saddened by the loss of lives’


While interacting with the media, the Chief Minister said, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of precious lives in this unfortunate incident near Mathura. My deepest condolences are with the families who have lost their loved ones in this accident. The victims were on their way to Vrindavan to pay obeisance when the boat carrying them capsized in the Yamuna river.”


11 bodies recovered so far


“So far, 11 bodies have been recovered, while the search for four missing persons is still underway. The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has sent teams of divers to the spot to assist the Uttar Pradesh authorities in the rescue operations,” the Chief Minister said.



“Necessary medical treatment is being provided to the survivors of the accident. I am in constant touch with my counterpart in Uttar Pradesh and am closely monitoring the ongoing rescue and relief operations,” the Chief Minister said.


CM Mann’s appeal to CM Yogi


Emphasizing the need for preventive measures, he said, “I have appealed to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to ensure the safety of devotees visiting such holy places in future. It is necessary that the respective state governments take all necessary steps for the safety of devotees at places of public importance.”



Expressing his condolences, the Chief Minister said, “I express my heartfelt sympathies to the families, relatives and friends of those who lost their lives. I pray to God to place the departed souls at His feet and grant strength to the families to bear this irreparable loss. The Punjab government stands shoulder to shoulder with them in this hour of crisis.”
