New Delhi: Prasidh Krishna’s four wicket haul set up Gujarat Titans for a seven-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2926, while half centuries from skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler completed the job on Sunday.
It was Gujarat’s second win in four matches, while LSG slumped to their second loss in as many matches.
After LSG were put into bat, Prasidh’s four for 28 derailed LSG’s innings as they reached 164 for eight in 20 overs.
Aiden Markram (30), Mitchell Marsh (11), skipper Rishabh Pant (18) and Ayush Badoni (9) all failed to convert their starts.
Nicholas Pooran (19), Abdul Samad (18), Mukul Choudhary (18) and George Linde (16) also couldn’t make their starts count.
Krishna struck at crucial moments to deny LSG momentum as Ashok Sharma (2/32), Siraj (1/19) and Kagiso Rabada (1/54) chipped in with wickets.
Gujarat didn’t have any problem in their chase as Gill (56) and Buttler (60) out them on the doorstep of victory wth an 84-run second wicket partnership.
Gill’s knock had six fours and one six while Buttler returned to form with 11 boundaries.
They won with eight balls to spare as Washington Sundar (21) and Rahul Tewatia (10) took them past the finishing line at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
