Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Reboot Set for Christmas 2026

The highly anticipated reboot of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day in 2026. While much of the new cast has been revealed, one significant character remains a mystery: the role of Lord Voldemort, the series' primary antagonist. Ralph Fiennes, who portrayed Voldemort in the original films, has indicated that he will not be returning to the role. However, he has suggested an intriguing candidate for the part. Read on to discover who he thinks would be perfect for the role!

Ralph Fiennes Recommends Tilda Swinton for Voldemort Ralph Fiennes' suggestion for Lord Voldemort is 'amazing'

During an appearance on The Claudia Winkleman Show, Fiennes expressed that after completing the Harry Potter films in 2011, he was open to reprising his role as Voldemort, also known as Tom Riddle. He acknowledged that since then, nothing has materialized, stating, "that ship has sailed." Fiennes played Voldemort in three films, with some of his scenes appearing as flashbacks in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

There were rumors that Cillian Murphy might take on the role, but he has firmly denied any involvement. Fiennes mentioned that Tilda Swinton was considered a potential candidate, and he believes she would be an excellent choice. Reports have hinted that the reboot might explore a gender-swapped version of Voldemort, but the character won’t appear until the fourth season, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Voldemort's younger self, Tom Riddle, is introduced. Interestingly, Fiennes' nephew, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, portrayed young Tom Riddle in the original films.
