New Delhi: Half-centuries from captain Shreyas Iyer, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya helped Punjab Kings (PBKS) to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 6 wickets in the IPL 2026 clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Saturday, April 11. They have successfully chased down a 200+ target for the 10th time. The Shreyas Iyer-led side is in second position in the IPL 2026 standings with 7 points in 4 matches, while SRH stayed in the sixth spot with one win in four games.
Chasing the massive 220-run target, openers Priyansh and Prabhsimran provided PBKS an explosive start by scoring 93 runs in the first six overs. Priyansh completed his half-century in just 16 balls, and Prabhsimran also struck a half-century in 24 deliveries.
Shivang Kumar dismissed Priyansh in the seventh over for 57 runs and picked up his second wicket by removing Prabhsimran for 51 in the ninth. In-form batter Cooper Connolly only managed to score just 11 runs as SRH tried to make a comeback in the match. But captain Shreyas Iyer played a sensational knock and was in total control of the chase. He hit boundaries at regular intervals and remained unbeaten till the end.
He stitched a 69-run partnership with Nehal Wadhera and scored an unbeaten 69 runs off 33 balls, smashing five maximums and as many boundaries. Shashank also amassed an unbeaten 16 and hit the winning runs as PBKS chased down the target with seven balls remaining.
Abhishek Sharma’s blitz helps SRH to post 219/6Earlier, Abhishek Sharma struck his first fifty of the IPL 2026 to help SRH set a 220-run target. He added 105 runs with Travis Head in the first six overs, which is the highest powerplay score in the ongoing season.
Abhishek smashed 74 runs off 28 balls with eight sixes and five boundaries, while Head played a supporting role and scored 38 off 23 balls. Shashank Singh picked up two wickets in one over to help PBKS make a comeback.
He first dismissed Head for 38 on the first delivery, and then removed Abhishek for 74 on the third ball. After two quick wickets, skipper Ishan Kishan stitched a 47-run partnership with Heinrich Klaasen for the third wicket. Arshdeep removed Ishan for 38 runs, while Aniket Verma got run out in the 17th over.
SRH only managed to hit just 71 runs in the last nine overs as PBKS bowlers made a great comeback. Arshdeep gave away just 8 runs in the penultimate over and also removed Salil Arora, while Xavier Bartlett conceded just 5 runs in the final over to restrict SRH to 219/6 in 20 overs. PBKS will next face Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16, while SRH will take on Rajasthan Royals on April 13.
