New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, a man was found living with the dead body of his daughter. Reports said that he had been living in the house, with the skeleton for 5 months now. The deceased was identified as Priyanka Biswas.

Man used perfume to suppress smell of body: Police

According to the Meerut Police, the man used perfume to suppress the odour emanating from the body. Priyanka Biswas died some 5 months ago. She was a teacher at a school, said officials investigating the case.

The relatives of the woman reached the house after they suspected something wrong. The man had reportedly told them repeatedly that his daughter Priyanka was away in Dehradun. He told them that she was teaching at a school there. However, after not being able to contact her for many months, some of her relatives reached the house where the father-daughter duo lived.

The relatives included Priyanka’s cousin and other relatives. Upon reaching the house, they questioned her father Uday Bhanu Biswas. He broke down under pressure and admitted that the woman had died around 5 months back. He also told them that her body was still at home. The relatives then immediately called the police helpline 112.

Police recover women’s skeleton

Upon getting the call, a police team from Sadar Police Station in Meerut reached the house. Inside they found the woman’s body which had completely decayed. Only the skeleton remained and one of her legs had some muscle, said officials.

The body was immediately taken into custody and sent for forensic examination. The police then began questioning the deceased’s father. He told officials that the woman died due to some disease and he kept the body in the house. This is however being investigated.

Relatives told police that Priyanka’s mother had died a few years back. Her mother had reportedly died by suicide and since then, the woman had become quiet and reserved. However, she continued to meet relatives and remained in constant touch with them. However, there had been no contact between the relatives and Priyanka in the past few months.

Priyanka’s father, Uday Bhanu Biswas has now been taken into custody. He is being questioned by the police. They are also trying to understand why the man did not inform anyone, if the woman indeed died of a disease. They hope to solve the case soon. The reason for her death would be clear once the postmortem reports come, said a senior police officer.
