A fresh update around Mahavatar has drawn attention, with reports suggesting that Indian actress Shraddha Kapoor was in discussions to star opposite actor Vicky Kaushal in the upcoming film.

According to a report, the makers had been considering Shraddha for a key role. A source was quoted as saying, “Shraddha fits the brief perfectly. The team was keen on someone who brings star value and presence. Plus, the Vicky-Shraddha pairing will be fresh, and the makers are confident this combination will resonate with the audience.”

There had been earlier reports about Deepika Padukone being linked to the film, but no official confirmation was made at the time. The latest update suggested that conversations with Shraddha were ongoing, though the makers had not announced anything formally.

The film, backed by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Amar Kaushik, had been planned as a mythological story. Vicky was expected to play the role of Chiranjeevi Parashurama.

When he had shared the first look earlier, he wrote, “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma! Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik. Coming to cinemas – Christmas 2026!”

Meanwhile, Shraddha had been working on multiple projects. Reports had suggested that she was involved in a biographical film based on Vithabai Narayangaonkar. A source had said, “Shraddha has been deeply invested in Eetha. The role is physically gruelling and emotionally intense, but she is keen to finish the film within the schedule.”

She was also expected to begin work on Naagin after completing her current commitments. Another source had stated, “Naagin has been in development for a long time, and the team demanded to get everything right — from the VFX project to the casting.”

As of now, there had been no official confirmation about the casting of Mahavatar, and the discussions were still underway.
