Central Employees DA Hike: 45 lakh central government employees and 60 lakh pensioners across the country are waiting for the announcement of increase in DA by the central government. It has been delayed for more than two weeks. The government had increased DA from 54 percent to 58 percent in July 2025. Many employees are waiting for the increased DA in their April salary. They hope that along with this, the arrears from January 2026 till now will also come.
Many associations of central government employees have written letters to the Finance Ministry regarding the delay in increasing DA. In these, a request has been made to announce the increase in DA soon or to clarify the situation in this regard.
President of All India NPS Employees Federation, Manjit Singh Patel said that the cabinet meeting of the central government is usually held every Wednesday. Till now the government has neither announced DA hike nor given the reason for the delay in it. He said that the government should soon announce the increase in DA or explain the reasons for the delay in this announcement.
Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers has also written a letter in this regard. It has been said that generally DA is announced in the last week of March. Every year the arrears of three months are received in the first week of April. There is dissatisfaction among employees and pensioners due to delay in this. (DA Hike)
Financial experts also say that in previous years the first installment was notified in March. But, there is a slight delay in the 2026 cycle. Bank Bazaar CEO Adil Shetty said that the reason for this was administrative sequencing and 8th CPC Framework There may be a transition towards. For this, alignment between the updated pay structure and inflation data is necessary. He said that there is no major reason for the announcement of increase in DA.
Experts say that the government should strike a balance between the demand for DA Hike and fiscal discipline. This is even more important especially in the pre-election environment. Earlier, the demand of the Employees Association was to merge 50 percent DA with basic pay. He said that this should be done in view of rising inflation. But, the Central Government had made it clear that it does not have any proposal for this.
