Gujarat Govt: Gujarat is going to host the Commonwealth Games 2030. As part of the preparations for the Games, a high level delegation of the Commonwealth Sports team visited Gujarat a day before. This tour is the first after the historic decision in which Ahmedabad has been handed over the hosting of these Centenary Games. In fact, the 2030 Commonwealth Games will be the centenary of this event. It is expected that its successful organization will boost India’s chances of hosting the 2036 Olympics.

During this visit, the delegation will meet senior officials of the government. They will inspect the proposed venues for the games. At the beginning of his Gujarat tour, he had a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in the capital Gandhinagar.

CM Bhupendra Patel said during the meeting that Gujarat is committed to successfully complete the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games through teamwork with the mantra of quality and effective planning, within the time frame given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CM Patel invited to Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Commonwealth Sports President Dr. Donald Rukale invited CM Bhupendra Patel to participate in the Commonwealth Games. Commonwealth Games-2026 is going to start from 23 July 2026 in Glasgow.

The event was organized for the first time in 1930

The International Olympic Association has confirmed that Commonwealth Sport has given Ahmedabad the rights to host the 2030 Centenary Games. The first Commonwealth Games were held in Hamilton, Canada in the year 1930, due to which the Games will complete 100 years in the year 2030.

Australia tops in last Commonwealth Games

When the first Commonwealth Games were held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930, only a few countries took part. The last edition of the Commonwealth Games was held in Birmingham, England in the year 2022, in which Australia topped the medal table. After this, England, Canada, India and New Zealand made their place in the list.
